This is the inaugural release of the Cygnus Block Pinot noir from our Estate vineyard in the McMinnville AVA. Only 70 cases were bottled of the 2013 Cygnus, making it a must have for any Brittan Pinot noir lover.
Taking its name from the constellation Cygnus the Swan (also known as the Northern Cross), this 100% Swan selection of Pinot noir is distinctly different from our other estate pinots. This selection of Pinot noir was brought over in what they believe was the 1800s. Robert planted three acres of it in lieu of an engagement ring when he proposed to Ellen in 2008.
The wine is more red fruit forward than the typical brooding dark fruit that accompanies the Basalt and Gestalt Pinots. The Cygnus emits aromas of red raspberry that float above notes of rose petal and freshly cracked black pepper while still beaming with a core of clarity that marks a Brittan. The palate is lush and illuminating with ripe strawberry, plum skin and dusted sage.
